Represents the 472,000 Australians living with dementia. Links to local bodies, resources and information.
Parkinson’s Australia
The national peak body representing Australians living with Parkinson’s Disease. Links to local chapters and support groups, resources and information.
Australian Heart Foundation
Resources and information for persons and families regarding acute issues (heart attack) and long-term heart and related diseases. Information for healthy living and recovery.
Stroke Foundation
The Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness, preventing stroke, improving treatment and making a better life for stroke survivors. Includes support programs, prevention activities.
My Aged Care
The Government’s starting point for aged care services. Information, accessing funding and finding providers.
Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN)
A free services support agency for older people and their representatives to address their concerns, particularly in relation to Commonwealth funded services.
Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission
Primarily to manage and monitor the quality of Commonwealth funded aged care programs. The primary site for lodging a complaint related to funded services or funded providers. An ideal resource for reports and data on quality services.
Council On The Ageing (COTA)
COTA is a peak body that represents the interests of older Australians. They advocate, educate and involve older Australians in all of their activities.

MS Australia
Provides information, advice, services and support for people living with Multiple Sclerosis. Links to state and local bodies.
Down Syndrome Australia
Our vision is an Australia where people living with Down syndrome are valued, reach their potential and enjoy social and economic inclusion.
Autism Awareness Australia
Their goal is to improve the lives of all Australians on the autism spectrum and the families who love them. Information and resources.
Spinal Cord Injuries Australia
SCIA’s advocacy team offers independent advice and support to assist with resolving issues that are preventing you from living a fulfilled life. We are constantly fighting for inclusivity and change for people with disability, their family members or carers.
Brain Injury Australia
A central clearinghouse of information and a gateway to national referral for optimising the social and economic participation of all Australians living with brain injury.
Cerebral Palsy Australia
The national peak body that work with people who have cerebral palsy and similar disorders and their carers.
Spina Bifida Foundation
There are state level bodies that provide information and support for individuals and their families. Google for your state body.
NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
An independent body established to improve the quality and safety of NDIS supports and services. Information for participants and carers and access to lodge complaints.
Resources For Carers
Carers Australia
A resource and support for unpaid carers who support family or friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, substance misuse issues or are ageing.
Carer Gateway
Getting practical advice and support as a carer can be a challenge. This web site guides carers to local support networks, to register as a carer and to access Respite funding and financial assistance.
