Senior Helpers Sydney Northern Beaches's Story

Senior Helpers Sydney Northern Beaches is committed to ensuring a better quality of life for our residents. Our owners Jo and Shay Martin emigrated from Ireland to Australia in 1991, and have a personal understanding of how certain age-related conditions can impact individuals and families.

It’s important to Jo and Shay that they are part of the conversation when it comes to creating better outcomes for older generations of Australians, as well as those impacted by a disability. Because they have witnessed older Australians enter into aged care prematurely, they want to provide these better outcomes through tailored in-home care services that have people staying in a familiar environment safely and comfortably.

They were compelled to join the Senior Helpers network so they could create positive, meaningful change in peoples’ lives. Being centrally located, they believe that connecting with their community and being highly involved with their clients and staff, is important to help them create change and improve lives within their community.

Our Team

Our leadership team shares the Senior Helpers vision and is committed to demonstrating the company’s values, setting a new standard for in-home care and customer service.

Jo Martin Director

Jo’s background in physiotherapy means she is able to offer assistance that is backed by experience to sufferers of chronic and other debilitating illnesses. She is driven by her passion to support people through the life they choose, whatever that might be, and seeks to make a real, meaningful change in the lives of her clients and their families.

Shay Martin Director

Shay has a strong operations background, particularly in customer service, training, change management and project management. This experience enables Shay to support the rest of the team to deliver the quality services that their clients deserve, to help them have a better quality of life at home.

My mother is approaching 90 years of age, is blind and has several major health issues. Senior Helpers Sydney Northern Beaches have been exceptionally helpful to my mother and I, and are doing the maximum they can to help out. As they realise mum could benefit from more help, they have kept me well informed, offered suggestions, checked on her when they thought she may need it and have gone out of their way to help further.

It's a massive relief to me during these difficult times knowing she is not on her own. I really do appreciate their help.

Senior Helpers Sydney Northern Suburbs have made such a difference in my life and my father’s life. My 95 year old father lives with me but I still need to work full time to pay bills. Senior Helpers have provided me with carers that are so sincere and helpful. They take dad to the weekday medical appointments that I can't, and spend time with him on other occasions. They take him for a walk most days and keep him mentally stimulated by playing chess or scrabble, or just having a good and meaningful conversation. I am so grateful for their assistance.
